Auslogics Disk Defrag 3.6.0

Auslogics Disk Defrag Editor's Review

Auslogics Disk Defrag is a hard drive defragger with a clean and aesthetically pleasing user interface but also fast and very reliable.

When you open the program, the first screen allows you to choose the drives you want to defragment or analyze. I recommend you check all your drives in case they need defragmentation, from the action menu (or the drop down menu), choosing 'analyze'.

When you hit the 'defrag' button, the software will display additional information about the operation (how the application does its job) with colorful illustration about the files that are still fragmented and the ones already compacted. Beside the graphic illustration of what's happening, you'll be able to see the overall elapsed time, the percentage of the overall process and some details about the files being processed. You can stop or pause the operation any time you want to.

After each defragmentation session, a HTML report is prepared with a summary of the total files and folders defragged and even those that couldn’t be defragged.

Pluses: It's free; you can defrag a specific file or folder if wish to do so; there is an option Defrag & Optimize which will consolidate the free space, move regular files from the MFT reserved zone to the rest of the disk space and place files smartly on the disk.

Drawbacks / flaws:

In conclusion: It's clean, fast and effective, very easy to use and much faster then the original Windows defragger.

version reviewed: 3.1.8
